I am all for celebrations...celebrations of life and love and achievement. When you celebrate your own birthday, it's really just an occasion for a party, but on other peoples' birthdays, you get the opportunity to remember and be thankful for the wonderful people in your life and to celebrate the very fact that they exist.

And I am grateful.

At 9:15 I woke up, and by 9:17, my teeth were brushed, my contacts were in, and I was checking the time. By 10:15, I'd started my first load of laundry, wiped down the leather couch and removed some blue ink from it, washed the dishes in the sink, eaten breakfast, and washed those dishes too. By 11:30, the front walk had been shoveled (despite some kind soul clearing 10 inches of accumulation from his car onto my pavement) and heavily salted against the still falling snow, and my wet boots and other winter stuff were set out to dry. By 11:41, the second load of laundry was in the dryer, and I was sitting in front of my computer.
